Artist Evo Love stars in " Lil Miss Fortune "

Taking Her Art to the Next Level Artist, Lover, Gallery Owner, and Curator Evo Love presents her first performance art piece, Lil' Miss Fortune

Miami, FL - May 14, 2010 - Dealing with the constant demands of being an artist and art dealer, Miami artist, Evo Love says she often found herself surrounded by negative forces in life and the art world. From the time she was a little girl, Evo Love says she has never viewed life with rose colored glasses but ironically, it's this very uncompromising view of reality that has led to her being misunderstood, with detractors labeling her as negative and pessimistic. SheÕs created her newest show, Lil' Miss Fortune, to strip away layers of herself ("I am not the enemy") as well as reveal the influence of today/s modern society on the growth of negativity and fear in everyday life.

Evo Love's inspiration for the Lil' Miss Fortune performance piece came from her childhood love of vintage fortune teller booths like the Zoltar, which she often saw in Daytona Beach (where she grew up) board walk game-houses and which many will fondly recall from the movie, "Big." The performance is also influenced by famous insult comics like Don Rickles, Lisa Lamponelli, and Paul Mooney.

Visitors who attend the show are in for a real treat. They'll get to walk up to a real fortune teller booth (with Evo Love sitting inside) and put in $1 to hear their very unusual fortune, personalized for each individual. But don't expect to hear any feel-good messages. This fortune teller will make you laugh your head off with pronouncements like, "You will not win the lotteryÉ so you're basically screwed. Get used to the word, WORK, because youÕll be doing a lot of it." AND "Your love life is barely there; if it wasnÕt for your hand, it wouldn't exist at all." It's going to be a fun, funny and out-of-the ordinary performance. The good part: everyone will leave with their own "art piece" to remember the night. Evo Love says Lil' Miss Fortune is "designed to open our eyes to the reality of our lives and deflate a few egos, all in the name of comedy and art."

Fans of Evo Love's artwork will notice that this performance art piece brings her art to life. For instance, the Plexi glass divider is a metaphor for the epoxy with which she seals all of her trademark found objects sculptures; and the details inside the Lil' Miss Fortune booth reflects the same minute assembly used in her artwork.

Lil' Miss Fortune will embark on a three city East Coast tour beginning at Stash Gallery on June 5th. The show runs from 7-10pm; Evo Love's performance begins at 8. The show will include an exhibit of Evo Love's most recent body of art. The booth and exhibit will then travel to Art Fuel, in Wilmington, North Carolina, and conclude at Spice Factory Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.
